Bacon vs. "Canadian" Bacon.

Peameal Bacon is a significant Detroit export to Ontario. It's been made there well over 100 years.

One of my Grandfathers grew up in Ohio. So he always preferred thicker cuts of bacon with "the rind" i.e. pork skin along one edge. I was always creeped out by the bristly hairs.

I'm pretty sure the UK and Ireland have their own, possibly several, variations on "bacon" as well.

I once had an uncle who would travel to Canada for peameal bacon. A cousin thought he was saying "female" bacon, so the cousin was always asking for female bacon and would not take correction. The cousin was not a child...he was in his 40s.

About 20 or so years ago, I got into the Jewish religion and tried to obey their laws, which of course one was eating pork.
Now that I returned to study Christianity I don't abide.
Either way I haven't touched pork or some fish or shellfish, not because I am still convinced it is good or bad, but afraid if something happened it would be because I ate said foods.

I have a Jewish friend who doesn't eat pork but does eat bacon. She says, "It's not pork, it's bacon."
