Today I finished up moving films from my 8gb drive to the 2gb drive I use for movies. I don't know what it is about these drives they work fine five or six times in a row, then out of the blue the PC will crash when I'm trying to shut them down. Typically what happens is all I can do is reboot. And if I do that, it's fine. But if I forget what I'm doing and hit Restart instead, the PC goes into a restarting cycle and gets stuck. After 15 minutes it has always shut down and then restarted properly. It didn't do that today. It just sat there with the blue Restarting screen with a small "working" animation running, but did not shut down after 15 minutes.
I looked up "Lenovo Windows 10 stuck in Restarting mode" on my phone, and it rattles off all these things I can't do, such as taking the battery out. The next line says "Press and hold the Power Button to force a Reboot", and I was like "But there is no Power Button!"
So I call Costco Tech Support and talk to them and it turns out what I thought was a Fingerprint Reader is also the Power Button. One 3 second press and hold and the blue Restarting screen disappeared. Then one press and it fired right up. I've had this laptop since 2019 and always thought there was no Power Button, no Reset option of any kind, and that you just had to wait for the PC to detect a problem and reset itself. They really should include a Key Map in the manual that you have to find and download.
I am pleased to know I was wrong. This calls for an afternoon Mocha Time!
