Life changer 23 years ago and kept and kept a positive attitude, losing my right lower leg below the knee. I was in the Marines and we were on a mission which I stepped on a live grenade that went off. Was also shot in the right shoulder feeling I was hit with something. Luckily a couple of the guys wrapped the leg up right and it was called in as soldier down. Got me out and doctors said possibly amputation of my right lower leg below the knee before I got into to the operating room which the bullet was removed first. Had to amputate it, messed up so bad. Next day after it happened, saw the stump. I knew that I had to adjust to life as an amputee keeping a positive attitude. My parents, they were worried when they got the call on what happened to me. They flew out to see me and did visit me even seeing the stump. Good thing is they were proud of me overcome thing and said I will walk again with a prosthetic leg. When I came home, my friends were there for me and one was help me finish up something of mine, a 1993 Chevy step side K1500. My good friend Randy had a wheel chair around and that was how I got around at first working on it before I got my prosthetic leg. The day I did get my prosthetic leg, my parents and younger brother were there for support when I walked with it on for the first time. I had tears of joy knowing it was a tough ordeal I did get through
