A judge. I have a hard enough time making decisions as it is.

I have set the text to 15 instead of 13, should be okay For comparison, the line above is 15pt font, according to the editor here. (I have Edge set to 100% and Windows 11 set at 100% scale) If you zoom the Edge browser to above 100% (CTRL +), or increase the scale in Windows 11 above 100%, it...

Journal of a perennial optimist (part 2)

Looks like Southern Pine Beetles may have got them. They wiped out nearly an acre of planted pines one season on our property in the country.

I think this is the frame for a trundle bed that slides under a regular bed or a couch. Has collapsible legs and wheels. I have no idea where it came from. If it were deconstructed I believe the sides would make 4 beautiful 1" x 6" boards. The hooked rod to the left has always been a...

That's the Way It Crumbles, Cookie-Wise

For 3 days only 2 baby bluebirds from the 2nd batch showed up on the deck. However, yesterday a 3rd one showed up begging for food, flapping its wings, mouth gaping open. I'm not so sure it wasn't one of the teenagers from the first batch, trying to get a free meal. It got ignored. Now...

Bill Shatner: Where No Man Has Gone Before!

When a URL is left dangling like this it makes it more enticing. A made-for-TV movie, with a Rod Serling like feel, and Ben Casey playing his Ben-Casey-like role. Shatner was cute, too...

So cool, Joe. There used to be wild turkeys on the property out in the country, but they are very shy around humans. Haven't seen any for years.

All the easy stuff, and all but 2 big items, are in the trailer. It is about 1/2 full. Now comes the hard part. The smaller stuff, but still too large to put in the weekly trash. I'm losing momentum. It is so hard to throw away good scrap lumber and plywood. So many times you need a little...

    HQ Dispatch Satchel

Has anyone else noticed that a.i. generated narratives have this often-occurring sentence structure? "Event X occurred, ... NOT BECAUSE of Y, ... BUT BECAUSE of Z." Jordan Peterson used this a lot in his videos, before a.i. Otherwise, I don't hear it routinely. It will probably become a new...

What animals have you seen recently?

More than you wanted to know: ;) Adult male Brown-headed Cowbird. A little larger than a bluebird. "Cowbird females lay their eggs in the nests of other birds of a different species. The foster parents care for the cowbird chick as if it were their own biological offspring, usually...

What animals have you seen recently?

A cowbird. Sitting on the windowsill looking in the kitchen window. All day long. I don't like those birds. One year I saw a little tiny sparrow trying to feed a big clunky juvenile cowbird, who it thought was her offspring. A bottomless pit in sparrow measurements.

    What's bothering you right now?

Allergies??? I've been gradually putting stuff on the front porch that I want to haul off once it gets enough for a load. I guess I stirred up some pollen on it today loading it in a trailer. Runny nose stops soon after I go inside. Strange.
