What do you think of DiscussionHQ so far?

• More forum boards - Do you have any suggestions?
• 1 or 2 more forum styles
• More staff members to help moderate the forum thread/posts and members
• More emojis
• Add-ons / upgrades - Check out the XenForo forum software and let us know what we should add to the forum - https://xenforo.com/community/resources/
• A live chatbox - This would allow members to chat live on the forum (Let us know what you think)

I am looking at getting more people to register but I am finding this hard at the moment.
I would like to say those who are active members and posting daily means a lot to me.

Nice to see people active when browsing the DiscussionHQ.

Personally, I think you are doing just fine @Smithy !
The main thing you have going for your forum is that you are approachable for suggestions, respectful and patient which, so far as my experience goes, is rather rare.
In short, I’m pretty content with what the forum has to offer as it is. Moderation is good, boards are aplenty and I rarely use emoji’s.

So far as getting more people registered, dunno.
Seems to me that the heydays of discussion forums has ebbed a lot from what it was 10-15 years ago when there were a couple hundred forums that had paid content writers centered around Postloop, Forum wheel etc.
So many discussion forums have gone belly-up just in the past couple of years so I’m glad that this one is still around for us to hang out, write and maybe pick up a friend or two.

The only bullet that I’m not familiar with is the “live chat box” so since I don’t know what that would all entail I guess I’ll leave my nickel’s worth out of it. (The U.S. quit making pennies so I can’t give you my 2 cents worth)

Could we have just a plain old smile added to the "Like" choices?

That is an excellent idea, @Nancy Hart ! I seldom use anything else besides the like button, and occasionally a love or hug, if it seems appropriate, and now and then the sad one.
I never use emojis otherwise, but I do like to I be able to show a like when I don’t really have a comment to add, but agree with what was posted.

Overall, I think that this forum is very well set up, it is easy to find new threads, and we have a lot of different things here to discuss.

Kate I think we have enough games, but then I don't like them since so many get addicted to them and the addiction can turn deadly.

I don’t play the games on this forum either, @Marie Mallory , but I know that the people who do enjoy the games section have a lot of fun with the forum games. I doubt if playing forum games is too addictive for us seniors, not like the video games that people play and do get addicted to.

Nothing ~ on our games to get addicted to @Marie Mallory they are what I call word games ..I find them good for keeping our poor ole brain ticking over by thinking of and adding answers …..and having a bit of fun ,

none of our games are “ online “ stuff ….as such they are only on this forum

I’ve never been guilty of playing “live games” online , I believe those type of online games ….can be minefields for the unwary ….
